The 10 remaining home-bakers must steel themselves to face the full force of Paul Hollywood's discerning eye as bread week arrives. For the signature bake, the contestants are given an hour-and-a-half to prepare quick breads with no proving - which results in creative flavours such as sweet chocolate loaves and manchego and prosciutto-stuffed bread coming to the fore. Next up is the technical challenge, in which Paul lulls the bakers into a false sense of security by asking them to make baguettes, a relatively simple task that concludes with 'the male judge' delivering one of his most brutal verdicts yet. Finally, a bicycle, a snake, a lion and even Brighton Pavilion find their way into the tent's ovens as the showstopper challenge sees the competitors crafting edible 3D bread sculptures

Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins usher the nine remaining home-bakers back into the tent for the fourth week of the contest. This time, the competitors must tackle desserts, beginning with a signature challenge in the form of a French classic - creme brulees. With the clock ticking, the contestants must grill their offerings to perfection to avoid serving up an unappetising scrambled egg and custard soup. Next up is the technical challenge, in which Mary Berry asks the group to prepare Spanische Windtorte, an Austrian meringue inspired by the tastes of Spain, Switzerland and France. Finally, the showstopper this week involves baking a three-tiered cheesecake stack, and only the most structurally sound creations will be worthy of securing their maker the title of star baker

James joins up with fellow chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen to explore Whitby, in James' home county of North Yorkshire. James pops into his favourite fish and chip shop before cooking tikka mackerel buns with fennel and apple salad for the crowds at Whitby bandstand. Lisa, meanwhile, pays a visit to Michelin-starred restaurant The Black Swan, to see how its huge kitchen garden provides almost all of the produce used in the kitchen

James is joined by chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen in Lancashire, where they visit a food hall and a brewery in Clitheroe, as well Lisa's Michelin-starred restaurant Northcote in the village of Langho. Along the way they prepare barbecued John Dory with kohlrabi and fennel salad, Blackburn and Eccles cakes with a selection of cheeses and a classic lamb hot pot
