The Sweets & Treats We Loved & Lost
Part one of two. Hayley Tamaddon narrates this nostalgic look at much-missed treats, beginning with confectionery, biscuits and crisps from the 1970s. Tucking into a paper bag of retro sweets, Penny Smith is transported back to her childhood by the taste and smell of a pear drop, Christopher Biggins recalls his days as a Saturday boy in a sweet shop in Salisbury, while John Sergeant looks back on the end of post-war sweet rationing in the early 1950s. With contributions from Anne Hegerty, Janet Ellis, Anthea Turner, Bobby Friction, Cheryl Baker, Sarah Cawed and Robert Elms
