Gordon Ramsay checks in to the River Rock Inn in Milford, Pennsylvania, where owner Ken Pisciotta is struggling to attract guests and battling huge debts. He has all but given up and his constant negativity is rubbing off on the staff. Can Gordon get this establishment back on track before Ken loses everything?

The competition heads to the Old Times Guesthouse in Ipswich, where mother-and-daughter duo Linda and Kelly Langdown hope a go-karting session will get the contest off to a flying start. However, a lack of breakfast options and corner-cutting on the guests' orders do not go down very well

The guests visit the Flower Pot in Sunbury-on-Thames on their second night, where owner Simon Bailey and French manager Pierre Cudon provide stylish continental-inspired accommodation, but the hosts are left puzzled by some of the feedback they receive the next morning

The third visit is to the family run Dolphin Hotel in Exmouth, Devon, which has been a life's work for hotelier Jo Knowles. On arrival, Pat and Nigel find a suspicious stain, before the guests put on their war faces for a game of paintball. Jo takes everyone to a floating restaurant for dinner, and the next morning she presents a huge spread for breakfast - but her diners are suspicious that it has been laid on specially for the competition

The contestants stay at the Mariners Beachside B&B in Seaton, Devon, but are disappointed by the cleanliness of the property. They take part in a town-crying competition during the afternoon, and host Nigel feels under pressure to deliver his award-winning breakfast the next morning. Come feedback time, the owners discover not all their guests share the same opinion

The B&B owners meet for the final time to find out what they have been paid, and confront their rivals. Simon Bailey and Pierre Cudon from the Flower Pot feel the feedback left by Nigel and Pat Booth is a step too far, while the Mariners B&B owners hit back at the men's opinion of their establishment's cleanliness. Linda and Kelly Langdown of the Old Times Guest House question the rating of their facilities, while the Dolphin Hotel's Jo Knowles has a confession to make regarding her hosting

After a sound sleep for some, Dean wakes up with a headache thanks to a banging headboard, and things don't get any better for him at breakfast

The third visit of the week is to Hotel Ellenby in Scarborough with hosts Tony and Paula who humbly reveal themselves as King and Queen of the town's hospitality scene, but their crowns slip at breakfast when the guests are not amused

The week's final visit is to The Crown Inn in Derbyshire, where father-and-daughter team Dean and Abigail take great pride in their pub. The trip hits the skids when Terry and Rachel give their room a dusting down and Becky and Tom aren't taken in by the view

The contestants meet one last time to discover how much they have been paid by their fellow hoteliers and to air their grievances. There's a smorgasbord of slanderous sleep scores, brutal breakfast bombshells and even one couple declining the opportunity to face their competitors. Eventually, it is revealed who has won the competition
