Jock misses the first scan of his and Siobhan's baby, so her parents come up with a plan to adopt the child. The suggestion doesn't go down well with anyone, so to test Jock's ability to look after a child, Principal Walsh challenges him to take care of an egg for a full month - without losing or breaking it. Conor is jealous when new pupil Gavin - who has childhood ties with Jock - arrives at school, and he is determined not to be ousted as best friend. Billy Murphy discovers that his former cellmate Dinny Molloy has just been released from prison and plans to kill him. Billy enlists Conor and Jock to help him fake his own death, and persuades the lads to let him stay at their house, with Mairead reluctantly agreeing when she hears the story

The baby is due soon and Siobhan is upset with the nonstop arguing of both families, so Orla tries to come up with a solution. She suggests that everyone go away for a weekend break together to neighbouring Co Kerry and try to learn to get along for Siobhan and the baby's sake, but no-one seems convinced this is a good idea
