A film crew comes to Button House to shoot a reconstruction of an assassination plot for a historical documentary - a scheme which may have involved one of the spirits. Mike persuades Alison to give an interview about the old house in the hope of drumming up some publicity, forcing her to turn to Thomas for advice on the art of public speaking

A mysterious visitor arrives at Button House, with a revelation that leaves Alison reeling. Thomas is confused by his feelings for this strange arrival, while Lady Button and Julian warn of sinister motives, and Kitty is as territorial as ever. Mike has an epiphany on his first day at a new job, which triggers Julian to remember his first day as a ghost

Alison and Mike camp in the grounds while the house is being fumigated for woodworm, and become competitive over who is the better camper. Pat and the Captain embrace the chance to spend some time in the great outdoors again, but Mary is terrified that the 'woodworm men' intend to rid the house of its ghostly residents and resolves to scare them away

Alison invites Lucy to stay, but begins to worry about her real motivations after a dire warning from her solicitor. The Captain decides to put his surveillance skills to the task of discovering whether Lucy is who she claims to be. Alison realises that Kitty's fond memories of her sister conceal a darker truth, and tries to help her come to terms with her past. The rest of the ghosts fear that getting Kitty to open up will just be traumatic for everyone - but end up sharing some unresolved issues of their own. Alison spends more time with Lucy and starts planning to make a big investment - but the Captain and Kitty uncover something suspicious, and need Fanny's newfound sleuthing skills to get to the bottom of the mystery before it is too late. Thomas works on his football skills with a little help form Humphrey's head, and Julian lends an unseen helping hand to Mike's promo film

When Carol turns out to be perfect, Lee becomes even more nervous fearing that if she dumps his dad, it'll be his shoulder that he will cry on. In an effort to determine Carol's motivations, Lee joins Frank's dating app and puts himself forward as a potential date for her. If she bites, he will know she's up to no good.
