General manager Chris calls a crisis meeting, believing the only chance the railway has of making it through the busy summer season is if an overhaul of Repton - a 1934 Schools-class engine - is completed. This engine has been undergoing restoration for the past five years, but now it is going to be all-hands-on-deck to try and get it back on the rails quickly. Meanwhile, Kieran discovers that a portion of track at one station is subsiding and cannot carry a load. The only option seems to be to shorten the Pullman dining train

A summer heatwave brings record numbers to the railway, though joy turns to despair for the staff when it looks like the railway will be prevented from running its iconic steam engines through a tinder-dry national park. Through a series of expensive preventative measures - including hiring in a couple of heritage diesel trains and having a makeshift fire truck follow every engine - boss Chris manages to keep the business running. The engine shed workers are also kept busy trying to get star locomotive Eric steaming again

The team arrives at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Falmouth, where more members of the public bring in their items to hear their stories and find out their worth. Objects include a diamond and gold ring with a grim family history and some of the most significant paintings ever seen on the show. Fiona Bruce and the team make a second visit to the National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Falmouth, where finds include a collection of gruesome early medical instruments to promote bleeding and a rare work by sculptor Barbara Hepworth. The experts also hear the remarkable story of a bronze horse that survived the bombing of Hiroshima
