Beginning at London's Marylebone railway terminus, Michael Portillo embarks on a exploration of Britain's southern counties. His first stop is Denham in Buckinghamshire, where engineers are constructing a striking new viaduct that will be the longest railway bridge in the UK, then he alights at High Wycombe, a historic centre of furniture-making thanks to its setting amid an abundance of beechwood forest
