Thomas Tuchel's team are aiming to make it out of the group stage for the third consecutive time at the finals, after reaching the semi-finals and quarter-finals in 2018 and 2022, respectively. This is just the second-ever meeting between the two countries, with the first coming in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. That game was a memorable one for the Three Lions as they brushed their opponents aside with a 6-1 victory. Braces from Harry Kane and John Stones, as well as a goal from Jesse Lingard, gave England a 5-0 lead at half-time before Kane completed his hat-trick in the second period. Panama did create some history in the second half as they scored their first-ever goal at the World Cup finals thanks to a consolation finish from Felipe Baloy.
