The Mediterranean leg of Jane's journey begins as she sails through the impressive 19th-century Corinth canal, a man-made waterway that connects the Aegean and Ionian seas to reach Italy. The singer visits historic Gallipoli in southern Italy and savours the famous local delicacy - purple prawns. After catching up with cruising first-timers over sunset cocktails, she sails to Sicily to hitch a ride on a vintage three-wheeler around the medieval town of Savoca, immortalised by the Godfather movie trilogy

Jane reaches her final destination, deep in the Arctic Circle, exploring the world's most northerly inhabited archipelago, Svalbard, a remote and rugged wilderness. There she kayaks in icy fjords, encounters polar bears and Atlantic walruses in their natural habitat, and visits the longest glacier in the Northern hemisphere

Michael visits a young couple from Luxembourg who left city life behind to become pig farmers, lends a hand feeding the pigs and samples some of the farm's delicacies. Climbing higher into the mountainous terrain, he shelters in a mountain cabin with seasoned hiker Patrice Tessiere Dufour. Over a hearty lunch, he learns about the customs and culture of the Pyrenees and its people and ends his day at an abbey in the company of Benedictine nuns

For the final leg, Michael is back in the Catalonian Pyrenees for a deeply personal one journey. In 1939, his father Luis Gabriel Portillo Perez fled through these mountains as a political refugee from the Spanish Civil War. At the tiny village of La Vajol, where many refugees headed to cross the border into France, Michael meets Margaret, some of whose family escaped through here

Historians Dan Snow and Dr Kate Lister reveal what it would've really been like to live in Pompeii - the world's best preserved Roman city. In this edition, Dan and Kate take a look at the working lives of Pompeii's people, from the very rich to the very poor. The town was a buzzing hive of activity as almost everyone, from wealthy merchants to lowly slaves, were busy making a living

Dan Snow and Kate Lister dive deep inside the homes of Pompeii's residents - rich and poor. Dan explores a current excavation of one city block revealing exciting new insights into everyday life including graffiti of gladiators scrawled onto the walls by children 2,000 years ago. Kate visits a wealthy house: with its three gardens, winter and summer dining rooms and even its own private bath house, it's clear that this local big wig lived in the lap of luxury. Kate also looks into the terrible living conditions for those at the bottom of the pile as brand new evidence reveals the horrific divide between Pompeii's masters and their slaves
