The large raised planter right outside the back doors - nicknamed the sarcophagus - is outdated and dominates the garden, and John and Vanessa are desperate for it to go, but they are keen for the materials to be reused to make the most of their £4,000 budget

In Uttoxeter, east Staffordshire, Shail and Cecilia long for a garden that reminds them of growing up in the countryside of India. However, the new-build garden they own is a featureless sloping plot. Lee Burkhill and Flo Headlam pool their efforts to create an entertainment space in the middle of the garden with a central patio featuring bespoke screesn and L-shaped benches. Lee adds a home-made tandoor for the family to cook together and a food prep area and vegetable growing beds. Flo mucks in with a planting area to draw attention from the giant walls and herb garden by the back door
